The Supervisors test ensures workers have a minimum level of health, safety and environmental awareness before going on site.
The HS&E test is made up of 50 questions covering five core knowledge areas:
– Legal and Management
– Health and Welfare
– General Safety
– High Risk Activities
– Environment
Candidates have 45 minutes to answer the 50 questions. The test now includes new question styles. Behavioural case studies are also used in the test to check a candidate’s understanding of health, safety and environmental issues, and how to behave safely on-site.
CITB is continually reviewing the test to ensure that it continues to help construction workers and employers get the right knowledge, skills and training to be able to work safely in the industry.

The revision material options include an app, a PC download and a revision book.

– Supervisory (SUP)
The pass mark for each of the Specialist tests is 90%. To pass, you need to answer at least 45 out of 50 questions correctly. The official CITB GT100 publication contains all of the content that is covered within the test in the form of questions and answers so that you can fully prepare for your test. It is also available as a digital download. There is a smartphone app which provides test simulations so you can practise answering knowledge questions against the clock and highlight the areas where further preparation is needed.
The Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test for Managers and Professionals, and its accompanying revision materials, has been updated to ensure that it is suitable for today’s managers and professionals, reflecting changes in legislation, working practices, new technology and industry needs. The revision material options include an app, a PC download and a revision book.
About the test
The CITB HS&E MAP test helps to raise standards across the industry. It ensures that managers and professionals have a good level of health, safety and environmental awareness.
The test structure has been designed to enable you to demonstrate knowledge across the following key areas.
– Section A: Legal and management
– Section B: Occupational health, wellbeing and welfare
– Section C: General safety
– Section D: High risk activities
– Section E: Environment
The breadth of content is now wider than any previous versions that you may have experienced, and is not role specific. We strongly recommend candidates allow sufficient time to revise and familiarise themselves with, what maybe for some, new subject matter.

Introduction to the CPCS Renewal Test Tool – CPD e-Learning
The CPCS CPD e-Learning is an important step in the process towards maintaining skills, knowledge and competency of the cardholder.
The CPCS CPD courses are replacing CPCS Renewal Tests so cardholders will no longer be required to sit a test to renew, instead using the tool below to select a CPD course to continue their professional development.
What is CPD?
CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. It is an ongoing and planned learning and development process to increase your knowledge, experiences and understanding. For CPCS this will be specific to one of five modules covering different topic areas of plant construction.
- – Earth Moving and Compaction
- – Lifting and Lifting Equipment
- – Piling and Pumping of Materials
- – Lifting Supervision and Management
- – Demolition
There are no tests as a part of the CPD e-Learning however there are some confirmatory questions that will need to be answered to progress through the CPD e-Learning.
Further information about the CPD e-Learning is available on the NOCN website
